OUR ACTIVITIES

Arts and Crafts

We provide arts and crafts in person at our hubs in Islington and Tower Hamlets. You can also join our Islington sessions via WhatsApp if you want to follow along and join in at home or in your own time. Our experienced and friendly tutor has worked with our clients for many years and will work with you to design and create your own work at a pace that’s right for you. In recent months our groups have worked on purses, dresses, trousers, summer tops, pyjamas, quilts and cushion covers.

Islington session is on Tuesdays 10am-1pm (term time only)

Tower Hamlets session is on Wednesdays 10am-12noon (term time only)

Yoga

We provided blended yoga at our hub in Islington and online yoga via zoom to women across London. Our experienced female yoga instructors have worked with us and across our local communities for several years and provide a supportive, nurturing, and safe space for you to access yoga in the way that’s best for you. Classes integrate the physical and psychological aspects of yoga with a focus on breath awareness and deep relaxation.

Online zoom yoga is on Mondays 10.20-11.30am (term time only)

Online and In-person yoga in Islington is on Tuesdays 10-11am (term time only)

Mindfulness

We provide mindfulness online which has been a great way for women to find the time and space to learn techniques to help them feel more present, aware, and connected. The group is facilitated by a female practitioner who explores ways to relax body and mind in a safe and supportive environment. Practicing mindfulness is a great way to focus on your overall health and wellbeing as well as supporting good mental health.

Online zoom mindfulness is on Thursdays 11am-12noon (term time only)

Support Group

Our support groups have moved online to enable women to access them more easily and in a safe and supportive environment. Our Community Caseworkers will introduce you to the group and facilitate discussion on what is happening for everyone in the group that week. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you like at our support groups, and everyone is encouraged to keep their cameras on and only access the group if you are in a safe, quiet place where you are unlikely to be disturbed. Members with young children are welcome.

Support groups are online via zoom on Wednesdays 1-2pm (term time only)

Vocab group

Run by our Senior Community Caseworker this group gives you the chance to tell us about any words or phrases you are unsure about and any areas you would like to focus on to improve your English. Each week she will provide you with a list of words and provide support to understand where you might hear them and what they mean. Examples from recent groups include permission, consent, increase, decrease, chastisement, admissions, discretion, tardiness, expulsion, consequences and elaborate.

Vocab group runs online via zoom on Mondays 1-2pm (term time only)

Cooking club

Our cooking club has evolved into a great platform to share recipes, ideas, videos and more. Each week one of our members will share a recipe that they make at home. The club runs via WhatsApp so members can follow along in their own time and sometimes zoom. Recipes can be shared via video and posted to the group or in any other format they prefer. Any recipe you want to make is welcome and in previous weeks we have had gangi soup, phirni, chaat, cinnamon buns, gingerbread, tandoori chicken, fish curry, vegetable samosas and pakora.

Online cooking club runs on Thursdays 12.30-1.30pm (term time only)
