Friends of Maa Shanti is a new programme which enables anyone who supports our work the opportunity to share skills that could make a difference to us as an organisation.

Friends of Maa Shanti are just like you. They want to encourage and foster a wider awareness and appreciation of our work, help us to grow, become more resilient and influential.

Maybe you would like to volunteer your skills in management, set up a fundraising event, create a new partnership or help to raise our profile and promote what we do. However, you feel you can help us we would love to hear from you!

If you are interested in helping to develop our unique charity and improve the lives of the women we work with, then you would be a perfect friend.

It is free to join and anyone who wants to get involved can find out more about our work in the community, campaigns, training programmes, publications, press releases and general updates.

To register you can complete the form on this page and we will be in touch to discuss next steps.

Community Champions

We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic women from all backgrounds who would like to champion the work we do in their local communities. Good knowledge of your local area and the drive to get out and about to events and activities are a must. We will provide the training and resources; you provide the time and energy!

Do you have a skill or passion that you want to share? We are looking for women who would like to run sessions on activities that they enjoy themselves. Whether it is henna design, make-up artistry, cooking, painting, dance, design, poetry or singing, whatever brings you joy that you would like to share with others. No previous experience of running groups is necessary as support will be on hand!

Are you fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali or Tamil? Would you like to help women in your area who are looking for support? We are looking for women with a good standard of English who are also fluent in at least one South Asian language to help our Community Caseworkers during their appointments and to provide support at activities and events. If you have 2-3 hours free a week and would like to get involved, get in touch.

We cover all reasonable volunteer expenses including travel and food. Some roles require a DBS check and confidentiality agreement.
