Community Caseworker

Hours: Part time 14 hours per week (flexible)

Salary: : £25,480/ £14ph (equivalent to £8,153 – £20,384 pro rata)

Accountable to: Director

Location: Mainly home-based remote working with in-person client and partnership work across North & East London at local community hubs and projects.

Maa Shanti supports South Asian mothers who are fleeing domestic abuse. We provide advocacy, emotional support, signposting and activities that reduce isolation, promote peer support and enable women to access opportunities for themselves and their children. We run a programme of online, in-person and hybrid activities, which improve access to relevant support, focus on mental well-being and increase participation in the local community. We currently provide weekly activities, arts and crafts, yoga, ESOL, support groups, cooking club and mindfulness.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to support our clients and develop our partnership working in and around Islington. The role will be responsible for advocacy, workshops, delivering social activities, outreach, community work and administration of local projects. You will develop and maintain new and existing partnerships with local organisations to improve support for South Asian mothers and their children and you will also help to develop new activities as guided by service user involvement.

You will be fluent in one or more of the South Asian languages such as Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and/or Punjabi. You will have proven communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate proven success of working on projects, delivering results and meeting targets. You will have experience of providing services to vulnerable women such as emotional support, advocacy, counselling, casework and group work and excellent administration and IT skills.
